I'd definitely planned on making an update by now with pictures and stories from my trip back to Ohio, but I've just been floored since going back to work on Monday. I felt fine after the flight Sunday night, but ever since then I've gotten MORE than 8 hours of sleep every night and still feel completely burnt after work. I have no idea what's going on. I had a splitting headache yesterday at work, but a couple ibruprofen cured that. I also felt a little queezy at times as well, but that only happened on the Let-It-Ride table and that happens EVERY time I'm on the Let-It-Ride table! Last night, I actually fell asleep at midnight (about 2-3 hours before my normal bed time) without turning off the lights or even brushing my teeth. I was out until about 9am!! I feel fine now, with the exception of being stuffed up. So if I do have an illness of some sort, it only seems to make an appearance at work and doesn't have any rhyme or reason with its symptoms. One thing is for sure though, I'm going to have to suck it up this week. Due to the occurence of days off from the vacation, I will now be working 7 days in a row and will only have a single day off next Monday! Ugh!! I am supposed to be in the process of moving too since our lease is up at the end of the month.
Getting all the pics off my phone, onto my computer and organized into a blog posting takes a lot of time, which I'm not up to investing in right now. I'll try to get some up sooner or later though.
One observance from yesterday's shift though. I am now certain that Let-It-Ride idiots travel in packs. I was on that table for 2 total hours yesterday and it was either stone dead, or completely packed with 7 douchebags complaining that I wasn't giving them good cards. The casino War table had overtaken my top spot of annoying games to deal, but at this point, Let-It-Ride is making a charging comeback and both of those games are neck-and-neck. Thank the casino Gods that they both aren't on the same string!
I also had a HUGE problem with the Let-It-Ride card machine yesterday. I'd say it flashed the red light about once every ten hands or so. One might think that's a good thing since I don't have to "deal" to the douchebags during that red light time. But there is a chance of breaking a player or two if I deal as fast as I can. And since we've established that they travel in packs, breaking just 2 out of 7 players could have an effect of chasing them all away. So that damn machine was doing me no favors!
Okay, back to work I go. Today I'm on craps, so I'm hoping to get out of this post-vacation funk I've been in.

Oh, I almost forgot a moment from yesterday. Three people sit down on the Let-It-Ride table. Two buy-in normally but the third guy doesn't seem to know what's going on. He finally finds his Benjamin and puts in right in front of him. I normally wait until they hand it over, but as long as I don't take it directly from their hand, I'm in the clear. So I finally bend over and pick it up, and he suddenly realizes he put the bill down and is happy to be getting chips. In the first 3 seconds of interacting with the guy I can tell he's a true winner! After getting his chips, he puts 2 red chips on the CENTER Let-It-Ride betting circle. I look at him for a second and then his friend correctly places three of his red chips across the three circles. He then says the magic words that I was anticipating....."Oh, I thought we were playing blackjack!"
Oh my god I am losing faith in the human race!!!!! I've had MANY people sit down at the War table and mistake it for a blackjack table. Somehow I just know when they are buying-in that they think its a blackjack table. Don't ask me how I know, but Chris and I know that feeling you get. You just sense it because they are overly happy to find a completely empty $5 blackjack table when all of the other tables are full and $10 tables. So when I only deal them one card and take/pay their money automatically, the familiar look of confusion sets in, even though "WAR" is plainly spelled out on the felt, on the sign and on the table minimum/maximum sign!!
BUT HOW DO YOU MISTAKE A LET-IT-RIDE TABLE FOR A BLACKJACK TABLE!!!???
There are rare times when I enjoy taking peoples money MORE than getting tips.....that was one them. Any theoretical tips that I could have received from him were far outweighed by the entertainment I got from him slowly losing his money on a game that he initially thought was blackjack and his friends trying to "teach" him the game! Since becoming a dealer, I've found there is a MUCH finer line between being an idiot and being legitimately mentally handicap. It should be illegal to let either gamble!!
