Blown Away

That's the Dale Chihuli blown glass display on the ceiling of the Bellagio's front desk lobby. What I'm having a problem with is finding out exactly what that display is worth! I've heard that's it pushes a million big ones, but can't find anything on the internet to confirm that. I've posted this question on T2V, but would anyone out there in blog land know?

I had heard the figure $2.5 million at one point, but I can't remember where, so that can't be counted on as official information.

According to this article: http://www.artnet.com/magazine/features/polsky/polsky3-20-03.asp the installation cost in excess of $1 million (exact figure not available) and some quick calculations with the price at $40,000 per "flower" (the price that similar works command in the gift shop) it is worth upwards of $8 million.

That's some damn expensive glass either way! I've seen it in person and man oh man it's some gorgeous stuff. It's hard not to just stand under it, head up, gawking.

Yeah, yeah, looks nice and pretty. But I wouldn't give a RATS ASS for it. So that's what it's wroth to me, less than a rats ass. And those are pretty cheap around here.
